Survivor Support and Advocacy
One of the most important but least visible efforts of the SGT Ryan E. Doltz Memorial Foundation is to support both soldiers who have returned from the front lines, but also the families who have lost loved ones to battle. Our President and Ryan’s mother, Cheryl Doltz, has supported countless other Gold Star Mothers who have encountered the loss of a child. Members of our Foundation have spent time with soldiers going through rehabilitation after being wounded in combat.
Following the death of Ryan, Cheryl was supported by other Gold Star Mothers and also many community leaders both at the state and federal level. Through this experience of support she was able to meet people and establish relationships which have allowed her and our Foundation to advocate for families with political leaders and other national organizations.
While this is the aspect of our mission that requires the least financial support, it requires the most visibility. People don’t know where support is available if they don’t know it exists.
